#30Seconds Live: Talking Tech, Startups & Entrepreneurship With Katy Lynch of Codeverse! by Elisa Schmitz
Have you ever wanted to start a business? Are you interested in technology? Do you want your kids to learn how to code? Then there's someone you absolutely need to know: tech entrepreneur Katy Lynch.
Katy is founder of SocialKaty, a social media marketing agency that was acquired by digital agency Manifest; the former CEO of TechWeek; and, most recently, co-founder of Codeverse, an immersive coding studio for kids in Chicago. Codeverse's goal is to teach 1 billion kids to code (seriously)! Katy and Codeverse recently won the "Emerging Startup" Award at the Women In Tech Awards created by Women Tech Founders (WTF).
According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, there will be more than one million unfilled tech jobs by 2020. Codeverse believes that a STEAM education is crucial for preparing the next generation for success in their technologically-advanced world. That's why Codeverse teaches kids in a creative environment full of cutting-edge technology. Every object in the studio can be controlled by kids' code - including drones, robots, 3D printers and lasers.
Katy talked to us about her entrepreneurial journey. We took a tour of the amazing Codeverse facility and chatted with Katy about her startups, how she did it and what it takes to make it in tech. Katy even shared her top seven tips for starting a successful business!
